*REVIEW* Safe In His Storm by Annalise Delaney

REVIEW from Sassy Southern Girl - Rebecca

4 Stars

Gabrielle Adams is caught in a storm when she dries over a car branch and her car dies. She is rescued by Jake Thornton but after the two share a kiss and Jake pulls away, Gabrielle sneaks out.
Five months later Gabrielle is organzing a wedding involving close friends of her best friends, Sherry and Luc, when her and Jake are brought together.
Jake is into BDSM and for the most part Gabrielle knows nothing about it. As Jake begins to bring Gabrielle into his world will she adapt, or will she struggle, as she did not have an easy childhood?
This was an interesting read about BDSM and it was almost a beginner’s guide to a certain extent. This is the first book in the duet and therefore there is more to come.
I knew from the beginning that something bad had happened in Gabrielle’s life, but the book doesn’t tell you right out what happened. There were parts of BDSM that you could tell Gabrielle would adapt easily too but I wondered how she would do with other things and the terminology of some of the items.
Jake honestly cared so much about Gabrielle, but I almost felt as he was pushing too much on her at once when he heard more than once that she had a rough childhood and needed to be treated with care. He wanted to know what happened in her past but when she was reluctant to open up, he should’ve seen that as more of a sign to back off instead of pushing.
One of my favorite scenes in the book was when the two of them were playing Truth or Dare pool. It was fun to see them going back and forth so much but I wished Jake had done a dare.

I loved the support group that Gabrielle had around her and I am super curious to see what happens in the second book. I think Gabrielle needs to fix herself before she can belong to any man, including Jake.
