Fake Out by Eden Finley
Maddox O’Shay needs a date fast. His ex-girlfriend, Chastity Wells, is getting married and he needs to bring a date. The only problem is that he told her the reason he broke up with her is that he is gay, which he isn’t. Luckily his best friend, Stacy King asks her brother to be his date for the weekend.
Damon King had plans of being a professional baseball player until an injury sent him in another career direction, sports agent. Stacy promises Damon that he will be able to meet a “big sports star” by accompanying Maddox to his hometown.
How far will Maddox go to convince those around him that he is gay and what will the cost be? As Maddox and Damon each are confronted with things from their pasts will they be able to trust each other and figure out their own truths?
I wasn’t too sure what to expect with this book but I truly loved it from start to finish.
Maddox was such a great character and although some will definitely be offended that he said he was gay to get out of a relationship I could see it happening. There was something happening with Maddox and I loved learning more about his back story as it made everything fall into place with how he was with Damon.
I loved Damon from beginning to end as he really was a stand up guy but at the same time he had gone through a lot in the past and really didn’t want to be an “experiment”. I could see why he was reluctant to do anything but at the same time he was there to help Maddox and he did.
I loved the chemistry between Maddox and Damon and they were so hot together! I loved how everything slowly fell into place yet there were still some twists and turns that left the reader wondering how everything was going to play out.
The end at Damon’s graduation was awesome and terrible at the same time and I was shocked at what happened!!
I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Football player Matt Jackson has literally been caught with his pants down and unfortunately it was caught in camera while he was in a gay bar. Now he has been dumped by his team and his struggling to get picked up by another team. His agent, Damon King, wants him to clean up his reputation so he enlists the help of his good friend, Noah Huntington III, to pretend to be his boyfriend until the football season has begun.
Noah Huntington III is not a relationship kind of guy and has no problem pretending to be Matt’s boyfriend, especially with a guy as good looking as Matt. Noah has his own issues, namely his father, and he knows dating Matt will not make his dad happy.
As Noah and Matt begin to spend more time together they each see a different side of the other and the two begin to grow close. But they both realize their “pretend relationship” has an expiration date and both have their own demons to battle in their respective lives. Can they come together to overcome everything or will they both be too stubborn to let the other in?
This is the second book in the series and although they can be read as a stand-alone I highly recommend reading them in order to understand the characters a bit more.
My heart went out to Matt from the first time we heard about him in book one and then throughout most of this book as well. There were times I thought he was acting like a complete jerk but he had a very difficult past and had lost a lot. His career was in trouble as was his family life and he was scared to get attached to anyone in fear he would lose them too. Yet at the same time he did not want to appear vulnerable and I think that showed through the entire book.
Noah was such a great other main character with his own set of problems and issues that he had to get over. He had relationship issues with his last “non-strings attached” guy Aron and his reluctance to have something serious. Then there were issues with Noah and his father and his dad was so hypocritical.
Noah and Matt had such sexual tension between them from almost the moment they met although at the time they absolutely hated each other. I loved how Noah was trying to break the ice and relieve then tension between them and I laughed at his poor failed attempts and how uncomfortable Matt was.
I loved how the two gradually let their guards down with each other and became closer. As they got closer we began to see other sides of them and see what they had been up against in the past. It made things so much clearer and we understood why they had the issues that they did.
I absolutely loved Matt and Noah when they were initially together but when they began to look too much into the future everything began to fall apart. As things began to fall apart my heart just shattered!! I was so mad at Noah’s dad!!
The end was totally awesome and I can’t wait for more in this series as I see sneak peeks at who all could be involved!!
