*REVIEW* Daisies in the Outfield by Carolyn LaRoche

4 stars
Angst-check! Baseball-check! Hot male in baseball pants? DOUBLE check. Jamie is your ultimate book boyfriend. He's so sweet-even from the very first page of the story-rescuing a small child from a fire, you immediately fall in love with his character. He has a tough time getting Mandy to accept him as someone that wants a serious relationship-because she's been through so much. On the other hand, Jamie has been through his fair share of traumatic fatal accidents-so he can understand how Mandy is feeling.  A good portion of the beginning of the book is a cat and mouse-with Mandy trying to resist Jamie's charms-and you can really feel yourself smiling reading these chapters. As the book goes on, I started to resent Mandy a bit plainly because she was trying so hard to keep the walls around her heart intact-keeping Jamie away.
I appreciated how creative this sports romance was-it wasn't your typical player-fan romance, and instead, has two characters with pasts so interesting, you're not paying much fact of the matter of Mandy completely hating baseball. If you're looking for a charming hero-a troubled, quick witted, and sassy woman overcoming turbulent times in her life, and a sweet happy ending-this book is a must read.
