Declan O'Connell has heard voices in his head since he was 13 years old. He has been diagnosed with several different things over the years and has found solace in painting and being a tattoo artist working with his brothers Liam and Kieran. He has never fully recovered from losing his first love, Paige Simon.
Paige Simon has been living her own version of hell during her "marriage" to Clark. Forced into marriage by her parents in order to save her soul she has finally hit rock bottom and wants out.
When Paige and Declan unexpectedly run into each other at The Gallery that Paige works at the two need to come to terms with the past and what happened. With Declan's brothers concerned about Paige's intentions will the two be able to work through everything. When an event causes Declan's world to shatter will Paige be there for him or will it be too much for her to handle?
This was such a great story about second chances and knowing the whole truth before judging what we think we know.
First off I loved Declan. I love that he had so many issues and was so fragile on the inside as right away you knew you wanted the best for him and everything to work out. His family was rightly so concerned about him given what had happened to him after Paige left the first time. I loved that he expressed his feelings through art and I was glad that he gave Paige a chance to explain everything.
Paige was definitely an interesting character in that she was so controlled by her parents and Clark until she found the strength to live life for herself. I loved that Lana was there for her when she needed to escape. She had to live with the mistakes that she made and how she let everyone else take control of her life.
One thing I liked was that the author presented debates on what actions have and different angles on people's views on them. She tackles a difficult subject but do so in a way that hopefully doesn't offend anyone.
I loved the ending and how everything turned out! This was the first time that I have read this author and it definitely won't be the last time!
